The Miwok Indians are interesting Indians. To begin with, the first Miwok houses were made of bark slabs leaning against each other in a cone shape. The largest biulding was the assembly house. It was used for dances and other gatherings. In the lower foothills and on the plains the houses were made around a frame of poles that were covered with bundles of grass and tule reeds or maps woven from the tule reeds. In this way, a room 40 to 50 feet across was possible to make. The roof beams were connected by small branches and then covered with a layer of brush, pine needles and earth. They ate acorns, pine nuts, seeds, roots, berries, elk, deer, bear, fish, small game and waterfowl. The Miwok tribe lived in the mountains. Also, the Miwok used bone and deer antlers to make a variety of tools. They also hammered off little pieses to make sutable sizes for tools. One tool they made was arrowheads from a shiney black stone called Obsidian. The Miwok tribe could make beautiful baskets that were waterproof. The Miwok tribe is the coolest tribe of all.
