Mission San Francisco de Solano
Mission San Francisco de Solano was founded on July 4,1823 by Father Jose Altimira. It is in Sonoma, California on the northern coast region of our state. The California Native American tribe that lived at this mission was Coast Miwok. They lived differently before they came to the mission. They lived poor. They hunted for their food. At the mission they made adobe houses and farmed. The misson closed down in 1834 because the Mexican government took over the mission. Now the mission is looking like it was looking before. Many people come visit every year.
