Inflatable Triceratops Dinosaur

Triceratops dinosaurs roamed throughout the Western part of North America from about 70 to 65 million years ago. The name triceratops literally means "Three horned face." You can tell by looking at a picture of a triceratops dinosaur why the name fits so well. Triceratops dinosaurs had 2 large horns over their eyes and another smaller horn just above the nose which could be used as a defense against predators like Tyrannosaurus..

Triceratops grew to be 30 feet long and could weigh as much as 10 tons. They were plant eating dinosaurs (herbivores) and could munch on very tough vegetation with their large and powerful jaws.

The first fossil of a triceratops was found near Denver, Colorado in 1889. Since then fossils have been found in much of the Northwestern United States including Wyoming and Montana as well as parts of Southwest Canada. Most likely they moved around in herds seeking the best vegetation to support their huge appetites. Triceratops remains one of the most fascinating and popular dinosaurs ever discovered.
